Daylight and Swiftcloud

The slim snow-white she-cat padded over to one of her fellow clanmates and hesitated before prodding her gently with a paw. Once she had the she-cat's surprised eyes on her, she meowed quickly. "Hi. I'm Swiftcloud. I was wondering if you'd like to go on a border patrol? The last one got back at sunhigh and Bramblestar hasn't sent a new one yet."

Daylight turned around, her face towards Swifcloud. "Sure, let's go.. I have nothing to do right now.." She said, "But shoud we just go the two of us? Or should we take some other cats too?" She licked her ginger pelt, her brown eyes wondering about Swiftcloud's face, loking for an answer.

[{Snarky}]

"I don't know...they're aren't many other cats out right now. I think they're all sleeping." She purred in amusement then looked up at the stars. "Maybe you should be getting some sleep too? I didn't even think about it...I have troubles sleeping most of the time. If you want to catch some sleep I can go with someone else..." She looked shy and hesitant. She was one of the newest Thunderclan cats and she didn't know if she had the right to be so blunt with her clanmates.

Daylight shook her head, "No, its ok, I'll go with you. It might even be fun to go alone wih a friend.." She said, smiling. "But lets be back before sun-rise, I have some stuff to do.."

A smile crossed Swiftcloud's face as her brain registered the word 'friend'. She nodded. "Alright...if you're sure." She turned and headed toward the camp entrance, taking in all the paw prints on the ground from generations of cats before her. She let her paws sink into a few of them, surprised at the fit. She made it to the overhanging ferns that made the entrance and turned to Daylight, who wasn't far behind her. "Which border first?"

Daylight padded up to Swiftcloud. "Um..." She hesitated. "Why not Shadowclan? They are usually the most troublesome..." Daylight padded into the direction of the Thunderclan and Shadowcln borders. Her brown eyes scanning the area, nostrills in the air, searching for scent of any Shadowclanner. She tured to Swiftcloud. "So, should we start with Shadowclan?"

"Sure. You're right...they do seem to cause the most trouble." Swiftcloud padded alongside Daylight, keeping her mouth slightly open to better catch foreign scents. She walked along the border with her clan mate, being extra careful not to step over the line. The last thing she wanted to do was cause problems. Her ears pricked up as she heard a twig snap. She couldn't smell any cats, of her clan or an enemy clan. But she did smell something else. "Daylight?" she asked with a almost invisible shake to her voice. "Smell the air. Is that badger?" She held her head high so as not to show fear in front of her friend.

A nasty smell hit Daylight's nosetrills. Her brown eyes wondered around the area, alert. "I think it is.." She murmured. Her ginger pelt ruffled as she felt the strong, freaky presence of the badger, somewhere near. "Be alert Swiftcloud, I think you're right. There is a badger here..."

[{Snarky}]

Swiftcloud nodded tightly, her eyes fixed on the ferns around them. Her fur prickled lightly, and she saw Daylight's do the same. She shook. She couldn't get herself hurt now. Not with her secret still hidden from everyone. No way could she do that to herself, or to Thornshadow. Suddenly, Swiftcloud meowed and her tail twitched continuously.

Daylight looked worriedly at Swiftcloud, "Is everything alright?" She asked concerned. "Apart that we may be attacked anytime by a badger?"

[{Snarky}]

Swiftcloud shook her head.

"We can't be attacked. I've got to protect them,"
she meowed firmly.

"We need to get back to camp."
Her tail twitched even faster now, and sweat was starting to form on her head as she meowed softly.

Daylight nodded but her words stuck in her throat. "Protect who? Swiftcloud.." She managed to say. She started padding in the direction of the camp. "You don't look to well... are you sick? and who's "them"? C'me on Swiftcloud, we've been friends for a long while now, and you know you can trust on me. Now, what's wrong with you?"

[{Snarky}]

"I'm gonna have kits, Daylight."
she meowed, a hint of pride in her voice despite the dangerous situation.

"Thornshadow and I."

Daylight stopped cold, her breathing became harsher. Her brown eyes went blank, and she just couldn't think of anything but in what Swiftcloud just said. "K-k-kits?" She managed to murmur, the wind carryng away her words. Breath came back to her, her heart started to slow down a bit, the breathing was easy again, and her eyes became dark again. Why should she worry? It was just a crush she had on him, and she never did anything about it! "G-good for you, Switcloud, I-I am so happy for you both. Give my happinnes to Thornshadow." She smiled fakily, hiding the pain she felt behind it. "Really.."

[{Snarky}]

Swiftcloud's proud smile left her, only to be replaced by a troubled frown.

"Daylight...I know you liked Thornshadow. I'm so sorry,"
she whispered. She hadn't wanted to hurt her friend by the news, but she still couldn't help but be happy.
