Silvermoon cocked her head at his strange words. Not that she was very old, but in her entire life she had never heard another cat wish for a battle. Gatherings, all the time. Battles? Never. She narrowed her eyes at him, hoping her message was conveyed.
"No. You don't want a clan to go through that, and you know it. If you need to get...if you want the rush of adrenaline you're seeking so badly, why don't you go hunting." As an afterthought, she added on, "And maybe I should go with you just to make sure you don't start anything."
Inside she knew he wouldn't dare, but she wanted to spend time with him. She had never wanted such a thing before, and the feeling confused her. Not giving him time to respond, she turned and padded out of the den and into the slight breeze. The ruffling of her fur felt good, and she padded a short distance away from the den before flicking her tail in the air.

Specklespot chuckled to himself. Start a battle? What an idea! Getting to his paws, his weariness swiftly fell away as he emerged into the sunlight. Passing his brother, Specklespot made no signal for him to follow. Whisperwind took the hint and stayed put, continueing to converse with his fellow denmates. As the spotted tom caught up with Silvermoon, he laughed. "I might start something, eh?" he said eyeing her bemusedly, "I may just need a kitsitter today...just to make sure I don't wonder off and do something stupid." Green eyes shining with happiness, Specklespot was returning to his old, joking self. A hunt would be the perfect thing to get his adreniline pumping, and he suddenly realized how foolish his words were. Maybe Whisperwind was right, maybe Specklespot was to battle hungry. The ambitious young tom decided to keep that impulse in check from now on, a slip up in a tense situation could cost him a prominent position in the clan.
Specklespot quieted down and looked into Silvermoon's deep eyes. She was thinking about something, he wasn't sure what. "I'll race you," he said challengingly, dropping into a half crouch. His whiskers twitched playfully as he smiled up at her, daring her to try and beat this little speedster.

She snorted yet again, but began sprinting off without preamble. She smiled wickedly at his shouted 'Hey!', but didn't slow down. Soon, she found herself surrounded by trees and stopped, panting and chest heaving. As she waited for Specklespot to catch up, she flicked her tail and set her scent buds to work.

A smirk spread across Specklespot's handsome face as he watched this quiet cat sprinting away. She didn't back down from a challenge, which was a good thing. Soon reaching his maximum speed, racing through the brittle undergrowth of their homeland, he too quickly reached the spot where Silvermoon was resting. The trees whispered their quiet hello as the short grass swayed steadily in the breeze. He took a few breathes, drinking in their surroundings, before speaking to Silvermoon. "That was a good run," he said, a mischievious smile crawling its way to the surface, "if you were running from a lopsided badger." His jokes were never meant to be mean, just to get a chuckle or a laugh. One could tell when Specklespot was being serious. His smile would fall away, his body stop its consistent motion. The laughs he'd emit would be hallow and piercing, instead of sing song in their nature. None of those factors could be seen or heard in him now as he joked, slowly loosing his restlessness.
