Wishing

Sparklepaw nodded, her face suddenly breaking out in a wide smile.

"Ya. Palestar's about to perform the ceremony now. I can't wait."
She gave each kit a lick over the head before she nodded her head and left.

Rustkit felt numb when her soft tongue touched his head. He would never wash that spot again, he told himself "Good Luck!" he called after her. His love would be a warrior! He was so excited. Then it hit him. She would be a warrior and he was still a kit, putting more complications between his love for her and how he planned for her to love him. [/size]

"That would be cool to be a warrior, I wish I was one," Duskkit meowed with a hint of sadness in her vioce. Then she looked over at her brother and saw him just sitting there after Sparklepaw licked his head.

Sparklestorm padded back to the nursery a few hours later, her fur smelling of fish as she laid down in the entrance, her head inside the nursery.

"Hey, guys."
she meowed softly. She assumed the kits knew about Ambercloud. She smiled at them to ease any tension.
"You guys might be apprentices soon. And since I'm a warrior now, I might get to mentor one of you."
Her voice betrayed her hidden excitement as her fur bristled happily. She knew she couldn't stay long because Rosethorn would be back soon, but she had wanted to say hello to the kits. She would never tell Ambercloud, but she wanted her own kits someday. Her eyes grew suddenly dreamy as she thought about the future.

[Pale*]

"I hope that you're my mentor! I want Sparklestorm as my mentor!" Rustkit announced cheerily. It was soon that he and his sister and brother would become apprentices and it was curious for him to find out who their mentors would be. His mother would be proud of her former apprentice to see her mentor her first cat. Even though she was young, Rustkit knew that she would make an excellent mentor to him. Although she had a mate, Ambercloud, he still longed for her. He kept his dreams for her silent, not even his brother knew.

Then Duskkit piped up," I don't care who I have as a mentor, I just want him or her to teach me everything."

"Yeah! I agree Duskkit!" mewed Moosekit from the corner of the Nursery.
