A ginger pelt apeared between the bushes, her pink nose in the air. Light brown eyes looking around, alert, ears percked. Daylight was on a border patrol, alone, searchiong for any danger or other cats form other clans intruding her territory. Leaving her scent on eery tree and bush she past, Daylight kept scenting her way.

Lightningstorm wandered around letting his paws lead the way. For some strange reason they lead him to the intersection of all the clans. He dropped his scent a few times just incase. He smelt.....Windclan. "Who's there?"

Daylight's head tilted up. She followed the voice, and found a Windclan tom near the border with Thunderclan. "Back off!" She hissed. "What are you doing so near us!?"

"Whoa there missy! If you hadnt noticed im on Windclan terretory not yours." He looked at the she-cat. She was beautiful. "I am Lightningstorm of Windclan. And yourself?" The orange-yellow tom bowed respectfully.

Daylight "raised and eyebrow," confused. Why would this tom be so nice? "Um, I'm Daylight... and I see you're in your territory, but too close to ours... don't step across if you don't want to get your fur ripped off.· She dared.

"Well Daylight, I promise you i will not." He smiled at the she-cat. "So how've things been?" He started to pace along his terretory keeping track of where he stepped. Lightningstorm looked at the ginger cat. She looked dougtful at him.

Ok, this is strange..."Things have been doing fine.." Daylight said calmdly, placing her tail around her pwas, but not tacking her gaze away from the tom, for fear it might be a trick all this kindness. "And you with your clan?"

"Prey is running quite well." He smiled warmly. Arrgghh...what am i thinking?! She's from a diffrent clan...Lightningstorm looked at the she-cat one more time, then turned around. "I guess i should be going now..."

"Um, I'm happy for your clan." dayight said sweetly, noticing the tom was just being kind and it was not a trick. "Oh, I see.. well.. I have to go too.. I gues... see you at gatherings?" She asked, kind of being fond at the kind tom. No one has ever been so kind..

"Oh...yeah i guess so..." He let his tail down as he stalked away sadly. I knew it....she would never like me.....

Daylight changed her way, why be so harsh to a tom that was being kind? Because he is in another clan... She told herself. So..? "Hey.. um.. why do you look so sad? Is something wrong?" She asked, trying to start again a normal conversation. "well, I don't really have to go now.. I guess we can talk a while?" Daylight sat down, and grapped her tail around her paws.

Lightningstorm looked around and stopped. "Oh..well..you wouldnt understand i guess...." Huh...a she-cat like her probally has a mate...and besides she's from another clan. "You look troubled as well...."

"Why wouldn't I understand?" Daylight asked. "Well.. I probably look troubled because I'm talking to a tom from another clan.. but for me its ok. Though I never talk with toms, I'm not atracted to any in my clan.." Thornshadow already has a mate... She thought sadly. "You are probably the first tom I talk to in months, well, appart from Bluespirit, his my best friend." Daylight explained. "So, you haven't told me why you look so troubled.."

"...Well...ummm..it's a mate thing." Lightningstorm was to embarrest to admit it. "Huh...my parents...they always wanted meto be loyal, strong, and one day get a mate to pass down my family name." I never told anyone this... "You see...im not born in Windclan..I was in a Rogueclan. A huge lightningstorm destroyed the whole camp when i was only 5 moons. I wandered off to find Windclan."

Daylight mover her head from side to side. "Rogueclan? I never heard of it..." She said, true to her words. "But, aren't there any she-cats in Windclan that you like? I'm sure there must be.. and if not there are always other clans." The last part she said it a bit embarrased. Thinking that Lightningstorm would think she was talking about herself. He MUST like somebody else, he's totally cute! Daylight thought, then shook her head. He's from another clan, he's from another clan.. She repeated in her mind, reminding herself.
