Eyes a deep ocean blue grazed on the sight of thick trees. Then fell to the river that seperated him. Ambercloud sighed deeply, missing the hunts with friends, training with his mentor. Life was indeed different. The only good thing it seemed, was Sparklestorm. A hurt like never before pierced his heart. Thunderclan was his home. But he could never abandon Sparklestorm. He remembered the first time they met. Her pelt had been dripping wet, but that made it much prettier. If that was possible.
"I miss you..."
His own mouth opened and said those words. Words, He, Ambercloud had never spoken. What would Rainsky say if she knew he had betrayed his clan? Or his father and sister? The gathering would begin and he'd have to face them. But not this gathering, once he was a full Riverclan warrior. His name was odd in his ears. Ambercloud, Apprentice of Riverclan. As if it was a story his father told him. A story of forbidden love, turned into regular love. A tom who betrayed his clan for a chance to be with his mate. So Starclan would approve of this relationship. It wasn't against the code if he joined her clan. But he'd spent so many moons training to be loyal to Thunderclan. Now he had failed his father. The cat who han't helped him forget Rainsky. Forever more, his name would always be a mockery. Always he'd remembered his dead mother. But it was the last thing he could remember his father by, so it would be wrong to change it. Ambercloud sighed looking off in the distant woodlands. Remembering paths in the forest well. Sparklestorm padded between the trees, loving the feel of tall grass brushing against her sleek gray pelt. The sound of leaves crunching under her feet almost distracted her from hearing words spoken from a voice she know knew so well. Only a few moons ago she had met him, but she would have never dreamed it would go this far. She turned his softly spoken words over in her mind, realizing that of course he missed his clan. Family, friends, even old rivals from Thunderclan. She sighed, feeling a pang of guilt as she walked toward the voice and found him sitting in front of the border.
"Hey."
The meow was quiet, yet understanding. She felt the need to let him know he was cared for, even if he felt differently. She knew it had to be hard...she herself could never imagine leaving Riverclan. Sitting beside him, she curled her tail around his and leaned against him, willing her presence to add some kind of comfort. She let her ocean blue eyes trail around across the border, wondering what would happen if an old clanmate of his would show up. She leaned her head back to look up at him, licking his shoulder as she left him to his thoughts.

Ambercloud closed his eyes as he heard another cat. Naturally, it was Sparklestorm. He sighed leaning into her. Silence was what was best. He knew one thing, Ambercloud could never return. He could never tresspass just to feel the shade of multiple trees. Feel the dead leaves, scent sweet smell of foliage. Instead, he had the waters, the sandy banks. Which would be great, if he loved the water. He glanced at her.
"I will never betray this clan, or you..."
He felt like it needed to be said. Like he'd ever leave now. Not when he had someone to hold onto again. Not when he was so close to finally having a true, Starclan welcomed love. His whiskers twitched apprehensively. The young tom wondered what Thunderclan would think, when they saw him on what they would think, were enemy borders. They had to have noticed he was gone. Or what if they just forgot about him. Had any of them ever really cared about him? Was it for the best he left that clan? And what about kits? If they had kits, he didn't want them to never know who their father was. No, Ambercloud would never abandon Sparklestorm. He opened his mouth to say more. But closed it quickly. Unsure what to say. Sparklestorm understood his silence, and kept it, not saying anything for a while. She turned his words over in her head, trying to think of a valid response. She let out a deep breath, wondering if he would ever want to have kits. She wouldn't mind if he didn't, she was happy with just him, but did he? She didn't want to ask. Finally, not coming up with anything justifiable, she just spoke her heart.
"I know that you won't leave me Ambercloud. But if you ever felt the need...I wouldn't hold you back."
She felt the need to let him know that she wasn't an anchor to him...she wasn't keeping him where he was now in his mind. She didn't want to be a reason for ThunderClan to hate RiverClan and start a war or something of the sort. She needed her mind to be clean...but it wasn't. She felt as if something wasn't yet finished with them.
A falling leaf caught her attention for a while as she watched it swirl to the ground. For a moment she wished she was the leaf...she could count on the wind to take her where she needed to be and not have any worries. Not have to think for herself. But she was happy to be who she was, and she was happy with Ambercloud. If need be, she would leave with him. She could never leave his side now; she knew that as surely as she knew she had to breathe.

Ambercloud sighed, thoroughly worried. The worst was yet to come. He turned back to Sparklestorm. His eyes bright, and his whiskers twitching. He laughed, surprisingly enough. The young tabby's whole body was twitching unexcusibly.
"You will never be an anchor. You are to lovely. If anything, your a feather. And I am merely chasing you."
He meowed lightheartedly. Knowing he had it good here. Riverclan would come to accept him fully. He stared at her, like a kit waiting for it's friend to do something interesting.
"Come on, lets go for a run."
He meowed trotting past her. He glanced over his shoulder. His tail twitched to signal her to follow. His forepaws kneading the ground. He had a question for her. Though he wasn't sure he knew the answer. Ambercloud was positive she'd be happy about it.

Sparklestorm's whiskers twitched in surprise, but she followed her mate obediently. Sensing something was on his mind as they ran through the forest, she decided not to say anything until he had spoken. Leaves crunching under their feet would have made it impossible to hunt...they were giving their presence away to every critter within a mile radius. Sparklestorm paid no mind to the dirt gathering between her pads...in fact she rather enjoyed the feeling.
Slowing down as they reached a crystal clear stream, she bent her neck to lap up a few drops of the crystal substance, letting it slide down her throat rather than swallowing it. She sunk her paws into the water, watching with wide blue eyes as it washed away all the clinging dirt, yet the stream was still clear as it always was. She remembered this stream from her apprenticeship. The bittersweet memories made her glad to be a warrior. Turning to Ambercloud, she bent to lick his fur in encouragement for him to speak.

Running with Sparklestorm, his amber and white pelt brushed hers constantly. Dirt clinging to his paws, leaves crunching beneath the warriors. He thought over his words. Concern for what the future held, a strange but old feeling. They'd make it through the day, Starclan willing. He and Sparklestorm would live a happy loyal life. His blue eyes followed her movements as they stopped and she began to drink. He too took a drink from the crystal waters. Laying down next to her. His whiskers twitched confidently as he merely watched the waters.
"I've been thinking, have you ever thought about having kits?"
He phrased it like he had in his head moments ago. Keeping his gaze on the water. He kept his paws away from it. Finally chancing a look at her. Kits was what he, thought would be the next step. They were not gonna be breaking the code now.

Sparklestorm turned her questioning blue eyes to Ambercloud. Closing her eyes happily, whiskers twitching she nodded. A pink tongue over her mates fur was her only response for a while, but as she watched the wind blow ripples through the water she spoke.
"Ever since I met you, to be honest."
She blushed for a second, but realizing they were both thinking the same thing had given her confidence. She looked into his eyes and felt all her anxiety melt away.
"You want that?"
She had to be sure, for both of their sakes. This wasn't a joking matter.

Ambercloud purred deeply, he relaxed next to her. Glad she felt the same. He stayed silent just basking in the warmth of the sun and her pelt. His blue eyes hidden behind tabby eyelids. Ambercloud's ears twitched constantly.
"Yes."
He finally spoke, there was no hesitation in his voice. But the only detectable emotion was love. He felt content, if he'd died right there, Ambercloud would have gladly gone to Starclan, knowing he'd found what he'd wanted. Life couldn't have been better. He closed his eyes, wondering what life would be like when they had bundles of fur. He saw the image he'd seen before he joined Riverclan. Sparklestorm in the nursery with little hims and hers. Sparklestorm found it hard to keep her immense joy hidden, but she worked at it. Her twitching tail and flicking ears were the only betrayal to her newfound emotion. Leaning into him, she purred. The end of her tail curved around to lay in the water for a few seconds, and she playfully brought it up to dab his nose. Laying her head sideways on his paws, she was content.
Images she hadn't had time to think about since she had first met him came flying back to her, eager to be seen again. She saw the two of them, smiling down at vivacious bundles of fur, and a sudden pleasure spread through her. She was so glad that Ambercloud had joined RiverClan, knowing that Rosethorn would never feel this way made her sad. Now that Longlcaw was deputy, there wasn't a chance for the both of them and their kits.
Speaking of kits, she would be a mentor soon. The thought chased away the pang of sadness she had felt about her mentor and again filled her with anticipation and joy. She began purring louder, almost laughing with pleasure as she picked up her head to lay on his back.
