Thunderpaw stretched and raked the bare ground under his paws and quickly got up to follow his mother. He looked up at the sky, the light glaring into his eyes, making it hard to see when he looked down. He shook all of his fur and followed his mother through a thick line of bushes and he almost drooled at the scent of mouse nearby.
He crouched down, tail going rigid behind him, he lifted his ears for any sound, and heard a small rustling in the bushes to the left. He pounced, landing on a mouse and killing it in one blow. He purred proudly as he waltzed back to his mother. She let out a mrrrow of laughter and rubbed her muzzle into his, "Good job." Thunderpaw grinned, and stopped again as a scent reached his nostrils, its foul stench making him grimace and feel like being sick. his mother was frozen in fear, her sky blue eyes dull as the black, white pawed, cat lunged out at her, knocking her to the ground.
Thunderpaw yowled, his fur raising up as high as it could get, and he launched at the attacker, tumbling both of them to the ground, Thudnerpaw on top. He immediately began raking his claws against the cats underbelly, not doing much from their short length. The cat seemed to purr with amusement, batting Thunderpaw off with a single swipe, sending him scuttling for a grip.

A black shadow raced quickly through the forrest. The undergrowth crackled beneath her weight as she ran. Sleekstep ran often. It helped her to clear her mind and settle down when ever she felt finicky. But besides the usual noise she made running through her homeland, she heard other, strange sounds. Scuffling it seemed, like a group of cats was fighting with each other. Curious, she stopped running and started slowly in the direction of the noise. Apparently these cats felt no need to be quiet. Peering through a dense bush, she saw the young apprentice, Thunderpaw, and his mother being attacked by an unfirmiliar cat. With a venemous hiss, the strong she-cat threw herself into the battle. Sleekstep made many quick and even swipes at the attacker's head and flanks, landing a few but also missing dew to the quickness of the cat's dodges. Launching herself at the assailent, she made contant and used all her force to try and throw the cat of it's paws. In that brief pause, she looked at the disheveled Thunderpaw and felt a pang of worry. Sleekstep had her own apprentice, but felt obligated to help and protect this young cat anyway. "Are you alright?" she asked with a concerned tone, "Not to badly injured?"
