Hallowkit shivered, the fur on her back reaching for the sky as she did. She strained her neck back to lick it down, her excitement making her shake. It felt like she had been waiting for this day her entire life--which in truth, she had. It made sense! Every kit waited for this day, just like every apprentice couldn't wait to be made a warrior when that time came.
Her black and orange fur felt weird in the hot sun; the black attracted the sunlight and burned hotter than the other half of her. It made her want to laugh, but she was afraid if she tried to open her mouth the hornets in her stomach would fly out. She hated bugs. Thats what the queen in the nursery had said when Hallowkit had described the feeling in her stomach---that it was hornets from excitement. Hallowkit couldn't remember eating any bugs, but maybe they had crawled in while she slept.
Speaking of sleeping, where was Bramblestar? Hallowkit's paws shook with adrenaline with the thought of sleeping in the apprentice's den tonight. She briefly wondered if her brother was in Riverclan camp right now, experiencing the same things she was. When she felt her mind tugging, she shut it off quickly. No need to get involved that way now. She didn't want anyone to see her glazed eyes as she spoke to her brother through their connection and tell the leader she wasn't loyal. She would give her life to this clan!
It didn't get much more loyal that that.

((Oh man, I just realized we need a mentor...So, I guess I'll mentor her! P.S. I'm moving this to the High Ledge))
Bramblestar walked up behind Hallowkit, nudging the little cat affectionately. She could see how excited she was. Bramblestar stood on the High Ledge and cried out the familiar summons. She motioned for Hallowkit to come up beside her. She looked out at the gathering cats and began to meow.
"Hallowkit, you are now ready to become an apprentice. You have shown yourself to be caring and understanding, and I know that you will make a diligent and intelligent apprentice. As an apprentice, you will take on a new name: Hallowpaw. Uphold this name well. I, myself, will be your mentor."
Bramblestar bent down and touched noses with Hallowpaw. She stepped back, letting the new apprentice stand in front of her Clan.

Hallowkit jumped as Bramblestar came up behind her, but her excitement kept her from being frightened. She listened intently as her leader spoke, trying to memorize every word and tuck it away for later memories. Then Bramblestar gave Hallowkit her mentor. Herself.
Hold on.
Bramblestar was going to mentor her? It was the highest honor for any apprentice, and it was given to her? Hallowkit felt like jumping. She smiled, her grin large and letting her small white fangs poke through. She licked Bramblestar's shoulder in respect as was custom, and sat back to wait patiently until Bramblestar was done speaking and the clan had finished their chants.

A small black form lingered in the back of the crowd. Had she heard right? This new young apprentice was to be mentored by Bramblestar herself? Sleekstep smiled. She was truely happy for the young little scrap, practically vibrating with excitement up on High Ledge with her leader. It was a magnificent honor to be chosen as the next apprentice of a clan leader, especially since as leader, Bramblestar had plenty on her plate already. Memories flooded back into Sleekstep's mind of her own apprentice's ceremony that had happened not too long ago. Her apprentice was so enthusiastic and lively, innocent and unknowing of the future that lay before her. Poppypaw had come a far way since then, but still had much to learn. Gazing up at her leader and the new apprentice, Sleekstep felt that Thunderclan was being blessed. Starclan had given them many good fortunes in the past few moons, and a new apprentice was a significant one of them.
