Ashfur sat down and licked Squirrelflighted gently. She turned to look at Brambleclaw and he nodded. "Ashfur...i need to tell you something..." His ears pricked and he looked deep in her brisk green eyes. She gulped deeply and looked away from him. "I...love....BRAMBLECLAW!" Tears formed in his eyes. "No...But i love you!" She stood up and ran away from him. "Im sorry!" Brambleclaw quickly raced after her.
Ashfur was crushed. She...she lied to me....she never loved me....He stood up and walked out of camp. His ussually shiny gray pelt was now dull and life less. Why would she do this to him? It was mortifying. Opening in front of his eyes...was a pool. Ashfur was stunned. He had no idea where he was. A small brown she-cat was drinking from it. She looked up and smiled at him. "Hello...." Her voice was like smooth cream.

She stepped away from the pool and walked slowly towards him. Ashfur backed up but a tree blocked his way. "Please dont be afraid of me...I am Freespirit. I come from the mountains. Who are you?" He was confused how she could be so nice to someone she just met. "I am Ashfur of Thunderclan. Why are you here?" She giggled and looked straight in his eyes. Her heather eyes softened. "What im not allowed here? To my knowledge i've been coming here ever since i was born. I ran away from my Tribe..."
"Why would you do that?" Ashfur calmed down a bit and sat down. There's something about her....something i cant put my whisker on..... "My mate...ran away from me...." She bursted out crying and covered her face wither her small paws. "Ahhh....dont be sad....you can stay here!" He put a small smile on his face. Freespirit looked up at him. "Really?" She sniffled a bit and sat up again. "Your very kind...thank you...." After some more chatting they built a small den for her to sleep in.
"I will visit you everyday...i promise...." Ashfur smiled and quickly went back to the camp. Everyone's eyes were on him. "Where have you been? You were suppose to go on dawn patrol" Firestar growled at the young tom. He nearly shrunk and shuffled his paws. "I was...patrolling by myself..." His leader calmed down a bit and licked his paw. "Dont do it again alright?!" With that he turned around and stalked to his den. Relief filled Ashfur. ...Hmmm..Freespirit....

Ashfur lay on his warm moss thinking about the she-cat named Freespirit. He then turned his body to the direction of Squirrelflight. Her ginger fur blended into Bramblecaw's as they lay together. He sighed deeply. Sitting up straight he licked his paw then stood up and walked outside. He let in a clean crisp breathe, and realized bare-leaf was coming. The thought of Freespirit sleeping out in the cold made him shiver. He closed his eyes and prayed she would be there when he came to visit her.
A few brief thoughts later the clan slowly crept out of their dens. Brackenfur stretched briefly and looked at the fresh-kill pile. "Hey Ashfur! Come on a hunting patrol with me! Fetch Cloudtail too!" Ashfur nodded and slowly walked in the warriors den. The white warrior was huddled next to Brightheart and their daughter Whitewing. He put out his pale gray paw and nudged his fellow warrior on the shoulder.
"Brightheart...stop moving...." He groaned. Ashfur chuckled a bit and spoke. "Get up! We're going on a hunting patrol." Cloudtail jumped up immediatly making Ashfur stumble back. They walked out together and joined Brackenfur on the patrol. The tree leaves were dappled in the suns rays.
As they walked farther and farther Ashfur realized they were heading to the pool where he met Freespirit. The young warrior raced in front of Brackenfur and Cloudtail. "Hey what do you think your doing?" Mewed the brown warrior. Ahsfur searched his mind for an excuse. "Ummm...why dont we check....Fourtrees? Next to the stream. Prey will be down there for sure." There was an uncomfortable silence then the white warrior shrugged and they changed their direction. Ashfur sighed with relief. That was too close....
