An obscure scrape of wool bustled into the clearing. The auburn splotch of pelt ungracefully groped the vines and shrubs that besieged the fissure. It pranced to its center, slovenly and messy. It flinched as the lustrous feline who owned that slough eschewed to breath. Hawkpaw panted after running for her life from the badger who had ambushed her. Her keister had been dreadfully tarnished. The charm it usually had was gone. Her eyes, however, coruscated the way they always did. But they were clouded with mourning and woe. The she-cat awkwardly managed to sit down to take a small nap. This had been a gruesome night and she just wanted it to end.

With one final stride, Nightclaw brought down the hare. Satisfied, she burried it and continued on. She scented the air, and was surprised that she caught a whiff of Hawkpaw. Following the scent, she found Hawkpaw curled up into ball. "Hawkpaw!" shouted Nightclaw when she saw Hawkpaw's injuries. She raced to her and tried to wake her up, praying to StarClan that she would be OK.
OOC: wow haha that was on short post!

ic; Nightclaw's piercing cry daunted Hawkpaw. With a hurtle, she stood up, detaining a stinging and ardous howl. The she-cat tried to feign a perfidious demeanor so the warrior never guessed she was injured; she prevailed a sheer posture as she prepared to face her. "Good evening Nightclaw. What brings such a recognized warrior like you to this district?" Hawkpaw asked in a somber and austere voice, enscoucing her pain from her clanmate.
occ; Hehe, its okay Night ^_^

OOC: i have to go after this post, but i'll be on again tomorrow, and i might come on again later today. And sorry, its another short post... i don't know what's gotten into me!
"I thought you seemed hurt. Or in trouble. I don't know, something about you didn't seem right. Are you sure you're ok?" Nightclaw questioned. She could have sworn that Hawkpaw had been hurt. Maybe she was wrong... She had to check though. She swished her tail in annoyance, that she might have been wrong. Hawkpaw looked fine, but if one was to peer into her eyes, they would find that they were clouded. "You're eyes! they're watery and clouded! Hawkpaw, what happened?" Nightclaw meowed softly.

ic; Hawkpaw's jacket flared. "Nothing really!" she replied in a deceiptful high pitched voice. "I just had an encounter with a badger. No big deal. I'm fine." The apprentice kept lieing, unable to tell Nightclaw the truth. Just like the warrior flickered her tail, she decided to immitate it and snaped her bruised and crimson tail as well. But the moon's beacons casted aloft it, displaying her gashes. "The badger may have slightly harmed me but its not something you have to worry about!" Hawkpaw fudged, abashfully tilting her head in frustration and shame.
ooc; Aww, okay. See ya later! Can't wait till you come back! ^_^

OOC: my posts will probably be longer tomorrow when i'm not as tired.
"A badger!" Nightclaw gasped. She saw some bloody gashes starting to crust over, and she saw the bruises. It looked as if Hawkpaw had been tossed off of a cliff, then found at the bottom, still miraculously alive. "You could have been killed! Was anyone else injured?" Nightclaw exclaimed. She knew that Hawkpaw would need help from a medicine cat, but she also wondered how she would be able to get that help. Every movement for Hawkpaw was a struggle, every twitch bringing more pain. Nightclaw couldn't leave her there though, she could be picked off by a fox, or any other predator. "What can I do to help you?" Nightclaw knew that even if it wasn't help from a medicine cat, any help would be better then no help.

"No I was alone..." Hawkpaw countered, her gaze steady on the floor. "I suppose I'll be fine so you really don't need to worry. I smeared some cobwebs on my blemishes, right after tarnishing some chervil root cyrup on them. The cobwebs will ceace my bleeding and the weeds will appraise my infections. I'm rending some marigold that will augment the effect of the chervil roots. I'm fine. But I can't move. If I do, I might as well mourn and twinge in pain." The apprentice felt blustered after divulging her weaknesses, and even more mortifying, infront of a warrior who probably cogicated her as a negligible and trifling Windclanner. After Hawkpaw's heritage and half-blood stardom, only her mentor respected her. She was all alone, just like when she fought the badger.

The sky was a bright blue when the two dark figures left camp. They strode, side by side, paw steps in sync as they always were. Scenting the air, the pair both stopped and looked questioningly at eachother. Voices wafted through the air as they detected their clanmates, Hawkpaw and Nightclaw, lurking nearby. The smaller of the pair gave an excited twitch, the older one noted, as they headed in their direction. The dried bracken rustled and crunched as they approached, and as they cleared the gross, the bright sun lit up the happy face of Whisperwind and the curious face of Specklespot. "Good morning," Whisperwind said, smiling broadly and Nightclaw. He approached her and licked her cheeck. "Hi Hawkpaw," he said turning. The young warrior looked aghast at the state of the apprentice. "What happened?" he asked, his normally calm face creased with worry, "you look like you were malled by a badger." Specklespot nodded at both cats and worry also filled his heart. If Hawkpaw was attacked by a badger, it could still be around. "We need to get away from here," he said, walking towards Hawkpaw. "Can you walk?" he asked, the care in his voice evident, "If not, I can carry you. Camp isn't very far."

Nightclaw nodded proudly at Hawkpaw. Hope that the injured apprentice would be OK flared in her eyes. "Do you want something to eat?" Nightclaw offered. She wanted to do anything possible to make things easier on this bright, young apprentice. When Nightclaw heard the voices of Whisperwind and Specklespot, she breathed a sigh of relief and her eyes twitched with excitement. She gave a brief nod to Specklespot and told him to get his answers from Hawkpaw. Nightclaw ran up to Whisperwind and licked him gently on the ear, her eyes sparkling with excitement and relief. "I'll go hunt for Hawkpaw!" Nightclaw announced, relieved that Hawkpaw would be OK."

"Alright," Whisperwind replied, nodding. Happiness surged in his heart with her display of affection. "We'll stay here and make sure nothing happens to Hawkpaw," he looked around and then said in a much lower voice, "but be careful, Nightclaw. Whatever it is that did this could still be around. I don't want you by yourself long." He rubbed his nose against her cheeck comfortingly.
Specklespot acknowleged Nightclaw's suggestion by walking over to Hawkpaw and settling down beside her. "You really don't look well you know," he said, a smile in his eyes, "meet up with an overgrown rabbit, did you?" He wasn't too good with touchy feeling things, at least not like his brother was, so his way of lightening the heart was picking up the mood. He hoped his joke didn't hurt the young cat's feelings, but he didn't know what else to do for her until she decided what she needed.

"Thanks Whisperwind. And don't worry so much! I can take care of myself!" Nightclaw's words were for her own comfort then Whisperwind's. She knew the badger was probably still lurking around somewhere, but she also knew that Hawkpaw would need to keep her strenght up. Nightclaw lept off, and went straight for an open field, where she would be able to out run a badger. She slowly crept through the tall grass, with her ears down, hoping to remain unseen, by enemies, and prey. Before long she scented a hare. She scouted the area by balancing on her back legs. She soon saw the hare. It was old and looked stringier then most prey, but it was better then nothing. She quickly approached, and pounced, the hare taking no notice of her. Nightclaw hastely ran back to Hawkpaw, looking behind her every once in a while, expecting to find a badger looming there. Luckily, she arrived back to find Whisperwind, Specklespot and Hawkpaw looking no different then when she had left. She dropped the prey beside Hawkpaw. And ran back to Whisperwind. Thank StarClan! Nightclaw was glad nothing had hurt her or Whisperwind. She didn't know what she'd do without him.

When Nightclaw had sprung away, Whisperwind sighed. "I know," he addmitted quietly to himself, "but I can't help it. I worry about the ones I love." The young tom raised his head and looked at Specklespot, trying to make Hawkpaw laugh. He always was good at making others laugh. As the time slowly went by, Whisperwind started to worry. Fur pricklying uncomfortably, he prayed that Nightclaw would return soon. Just as figitty tom was about to announce he was going after her, she emerged from a nearby bush looking nervous but happy to see him, a dead rabbit dangling limply from her jaws. He inwardly let out a great sigh of relief, his fur lying flat as calm spread back through him. "When we get back," he said, "we need to alert the clan to this badger. No one, apprentice, warrior, or gueen, should go out alone for a while. At least until we know this beast's moved on."

"You're right." Agreed Nightclaw, staring lovingly into his brilliant yellow eyes. "We'll have to find out more when Hawkpaw gets stronger. I'm just worried the badger is following her trail. She may have chased it off for the time being, but if she hasn't, it'll probably be looking for her." Nightclaw's tail flicked with worry. If they didn't get out of here soon, they could end up looking like Hawkpaw. Nightclaw looked to Whisperwind for comfort.

Whisperwind hadn't thought about that before. He pressed his small shoulder against Nightclaw's to reasure her, thinking quickly. Badgers where large and stupid, but they had an excellent sense of smell. If they didn't catch something the first time, they simply kept tracking it until they did. He'd even heard of one badger following a rabbit to it's hole and digging the poor thing out. Then, the bloodthirsty beast moved right in. Shuddering slightly at this thought, he decided that they'd have to move. Soon. "Hawkpaw, eat up. We need to get you back as quickly as possible," he instructed, the worry in his voice evident to all. "Specklespot, you feeling strong enough to carry her?" he asked. "Fit as a jackrabbit," his eager brother answered, getting to his feet.

ooc; Wow, you fellas went on without me! -feels retarted-
ic; Hawkpaw's head lurched in the direction of the two approaching Windclanners. She recoiled in perplexity since she didn't presume so many of her clanmates would come to this place. Her burnt orbs, however, squirmed in curiosity, fronting the embrace and the benign smooch between Whisperwind and Nightclaw. The callow apprentice comprised a sheepish chuckle, thinking they made a cute couple. As she discerned Whisperwind's and Specklespot's schemes emanating from the thicket, her mind thought of an excuse that could cloak her current grieve. "Good evening. Oh, these? Well a badger attacked me but I was victorious in our blitz. I managed to slaughter it, even thought it left me some lesions. I've treated them though. I know enough about medicine herbs and how to advocate badger aggressions so I'm perfectly fine..." Hawkpaw spoke with a confident and presuming demeanour that wasn't hers. After Nightclaw’s inquire, the cougar frenziedly slanted her head. "No I'm not hungry. The marigold already filled my belly so I'm gonna be okay." She cowered blunderingly to be more confortable as she kept speaking. "There is, however, something you should know..." she began. "I found this badger as I was patrolling our border with RiverClan. I attained victory but as I cruised over our WindClan boundary, I found a badger hideaway near the river. Oppossums and bantam snakes were ambling near it. In other words, daring to walk near that burrow would be walking to your dead-bed. I, er... was assailed because I tried to some how drown the haunt into the river. You see, it was a mild cleaver aerie, so I thought the creatures inside it would die in the river. I tried to push it but failed. The badgers attacked me, and even though I encontered them, one procured on his vengeance against me." Hawkpaw stammered and slightly flinched. "I think we should send patrols to that zone to get rid of that taunting danger. RiverClan may also be exposed to that peril and any Windclanner as well." She suspended her speech and gawked expectantly at the older warriors.
