Shiningstream knew she should have told her Clan where she was going. It getting near dark and she was sure they were worrying about her, especially Autumnkit's mother. And more especially...RiverClan. But they had come too far to turn back, for no reason, actually. She, with Scorpionkit still in her jaws and Autumnkit trailing behind, were already deep into their territory.
Sniffing through the reeds, the warrior was just able to make out a very strong, fishy scent. Their camp was near here. Shiningstream gently dropped Scorpionkit to the ground for a little breather. She swiveled her head behind her. "Autumnkit! How are you feeling?

Scorpionkit was glad for the break. He couldn't imagine what it would be like for another clan's warrior to carry him into his own clan! It was bad enough that he had hurt himself, but it would be truley embarassing for his clan to see him in someone elses mouth, being carried like a kit. Ok, sure, he was a kit, but that wasn't the point. The smell of his own clan was overwhelming, and he knew they must be close.
"I can walk from here, Shiningstream." Scorpionkit muttered, his tail hanging in the dirt. The one time he had tried to lift it, he had felt shock waves of pain throughout his body. The fall had definetly broken something. He wasn't sure what, or how bad whatever it was was broken, but he hurt. All over. He shivered as the fox's snarling muzzle came into his mind, and he pushed it away.
He glanced back at Autumnkit, who hadn't the 'luxury' of being carried. He knew that the she-kit was strong, but it was a long walk, and he doubted she had ever gone so far.

Autumnkit was panting from sheer exhaustion and her calico fur was wet with a sheen of sweat, but she nodded at Shiningstream's question in an indication of 'fine'. She had never felt more like collapsing to her paws, but she felt the need to be strong for Scorpionkit. The strong, fish-like scent that filled her nostrils was overwhelming, and she found herself wondering how cats could live around it. She realized if you were born here you must get used to it fast...
Looking at Scorpionkit, she smiled in encouragement as she looked around for his camp. In truth, she didn't want him to go home. Maybe...someday when they were both apprentices...they would meet at the border? She found that hope inside her begin to burn again so she steered her thoughts in a different direction, checking over Scorpionkit's body for anything bad. She could tell something was broken, but he seemed alright for now, especially if he could walk. She leaned against him, prepared to help him into camp.

Shiningstream chuckled good-heartedly, although still blatantly aware that she was on enemy territory with one of their kits. Injured, at that. It would be an odd position to find her in.
Seeing as Scorpionkit was trying his best to make himself as strong as possible, Shiningstream didn't argue. Looking around, she closed her eyes, beginning to use a skill that few cats possessed that she didn't even understand. Now, all of her senses seemed super-charged: she could feel every toe of prey that scuttled in the undergrowth against her paws, she could hear every ripple of the river fox-lengths away, and she could smell the RiverClan camp so close...
"I hear someone coming!
If anyone has a RiverClan cat, can they come in as if a patrol? I'll bring in Silvertip after that.

Sparklestorm padded through the undergrowth, the ThunderClan scent filling her nostrils. She knew she should have brought someone, but she smelled the missing RiverClan kit and felt compassion for his returners. Padding into view, she spotted two kits and a warrior. Suddenly feeling apprehensive, she stepped forward. "Scorpionkit?" she called out to the young, damaged kit. She saw that he was injured, but didn't know what to make of it.
Autumnkit whipped around at the voice, suddenly afraid of what might happen next. Laying her tail on Scorpionkit's back, she looked up at Shiningstream.

"Sparklestorm..." Scorpionkit muttered, turning his guilt-filled eyes towards the Riverclan warrior. "These guys were just bringing me home, they didn't do anything." He clarified quickly. "Shiningstream saved me, actually, me and Autumnkit here...there was a fox...I'm sorry I snuck out of camp, I shouldn't of." He muttered, his tail flicking, and his eyes finding the ground.
Boy, was he going to be in trouble.

Shiningstream inaudibly silenced Scorpionkit with her tail, her eyes still fixed on the RiverClan warrior. Still being on enemy territory unsettled her, but she kept her gaze emotionless. She really didn't want to provoke a fight, especially with one of their kits still at her paws and Autumnkit behind her. "Let me explain-"
"Sparklestorm!" called a female voice. From the reeds behind her RiverClan companion emerged a young looking tortoiseshell warrior, her bright silver tail lashing in annoyance. "Way to wait for me, huh? Palestar said our patrol-" Silvertip broke off as soon as she spotted the ThunderClan warrior, as well as the missing kit at her paws, looking broken. Silvertip thought the worst. "Well, seemes as we captured the enemy!" she growled, "Did you steal him in the first place?"

Sparklestorm's tail lashed angrily as she kept her eyes on Scorpionkit. Her eyes showed her fury, but when she spoke her voice was steady and calm. "No, Silvertip. Scorpionkit left on his own. From the looks of him, hes been punished enough already. Go get the medicine cat." She stepped forward, preparing to grab his scruff, but stopped suddenly, unsure of what was wrong with him and not wanting to injure him further. Autumnkit snuggled closer to Scorpionkit, scared out of her mind as the RiverClan warrior stepped up to them. She turned her yellow eyes up to his and silently asked if she was ok.

Silverip had no means of leaving yet. She knew by sheer knowledge that a kit as old as Scorpionkit, whether already crippled or not, was brave enough to speak out to his superiors, than they could carry him back. Silvertip had just recently been a queen, and her understanding of kits made it certain. Besides, she was much older than Sparklestorm to be given orders. "If a ThunderClanner ever speaks the truth, than I'll take your word for it." Silvertip glared at Shiningstream as she smirked. "We can take him back once we're finished with them.
Shiningstream narrowed her eyes. She gently curled her tail around Autumnkit, sadly pulling her closer. They had to part now, but Shiningstream felt an aching sensation that they wouldn't get away without giving the two RiverClan warriors an explanation. "Would you like an explanantion?" she echoed her thoughts.

Scorpionkit glanced at the two, and then at Autumnkit, who seemed nervous. "Shes telling the truth, I swear. I left, I wanted to explore...I was sick of being held up in camp...they didn't do anything. Like I said, Shiningstream saved me...the fox would have eaten me, and maybe even Autumnkit, if Shiningstream hadn't chased it off." Scorpionkit said, his voice pleading. He needed to make them understand! He didn't want either Thunderclanner to get in trouble, least of all Autumnkit!
"Don't hurt them, please!" He added, wrapping his tail around Autumnkit.

Autumnkit leaned into Scorpionkit, her wide yellow eyes taking in the two cats in front of her. She could tell the gray she-cat was going to have kits soon, and she wondered what she was doing out of camp. The other warrior seemed angry...willing to tear them to shreds. Glad she had her friend to protect her, she turned her head into Scorpionkit's fur like a frightened kit, which in all reality, was exactly what she was. Sparklestorm hesitated, unsure of what to do or say. She had started in RiverClan as an apprentice, but in all her years (although they weren't many) she had never run into other cats on their territory. It was obvious that Silvertip wanted to use violence, or to get others, but Sparklestorm didn't want to risk losing Scorpionkit. If he wasn't further injured in the fighting, he would forever hate his clan for hurting the young kit he obviously cherished. This was complicated. She thought of her mate, Ambercloud, formerly of ThunderClan who had left for her. Had she set a bad example for the young kit?

Silvertip watched all the cats for a few more heartbeats. Her pelt was beginning to settle itself, but her ears were still layed flat, and her lips were still twisted in a sort of careless threat. "Fine," she finally spit out. "Tell your story."
The young ThunderClan warrior gave her tail a rigorous licking before she felt the need to turn back to the RiverClan patrol. If Shiningstream chose her words wrong, then she would be putting both her and Autumnkit's life in danger. She needed to think wisely, clearly...likd Bramblestar! Her old mentor..how would she handle this... "I was out on a rescue patrol to find Autumnkit, who had wandered out of camp. But by the time I found her, I also found your kit. Autumnkit was hiding, but Scorpionkit had been chased into a small gorge. I chased off the fox before it did more damage."

"It's true." Scorpionkit spoke up quickly, flicking his tail over Autumnkit's flank, albeit briefly. He was staring up at his two clanmates with pleading in his eyes. Sparklestorm seemed willing to believe it, but Silvertip seemed more reluctant. Did she believe that Scorpionkit was simply spewing out words the Thunderclan cat had threatened into him? This made him bristle slightly. He and Shiningstream were telling the truth!
