Ashpaw stepped into the clearing, and stretched her back with a long yawn, and shook the sleep from her eyes. She looked around wondering what she could do. It was early, and it seemed like only a few cats were stirring. Ashpaw then had an idea and padded over to the warriors den. She stood outside the den as to be respectful to the warriors and softly called,” Moonflower".

"Morning Ashpaw. What are you up to today?" Moonflower asked stretching her legs, before padding over to the apprentice.

"Good morning" Ashpaw replied shyly as the she cat came to greet her. "I was wondering if you wanted to go hunting with me.” she didn’t know why she was being so shy, moonflower had always been nice to her in the past, although she didn’t know her very well. But that’s why she had wondered about hunting. She wanted to get to know moonflower better.

"Of course I'll go hunting with you. Besides I need something to do since I'm already up anyway." Moonflower meowed laughing slightly. Ashpaw was a nice apprentice, and when she was a warrior Moonflower was sure she would be one of the best ones. She didn't know much about Ashpaw, so what better way to talk to her then to go hunting with her. Besides not only would they be getting to know each other, but they would be doing something good for the Clan as well.

Ashpaw smiled relived. "Ok great!" she replied most of her shyness gone.” ware do you think is the best place to hunt this morning?" she added. This would be a good experience for her. She would get to watch this more experienced cat wile they hunted. Ashpaw had not yet had an official hunting lesson, and was looking forward maybe getting a few tips! After loosing her first mouse she wanted to make up for it and surprise Thistleclaw.

Thornpaw ran up and pounced onto Ashpaw, ruffling her fur with her paw. She grinned and ran away.

Ashpaw lay on the ground twitching for a moment trying to figure out what had just happened .oh she hated to be rude but Thornpaw needed to be chased.” I will be right back!" she exclaimed quickly and politely to Moonflower. And took off in cheery pursuit with dirt flying at her heals.

Moonflower smiled happily at the two apprentices. She let out a small laugh as watched Ashpaw chase Thornpaw.

Thornpaw whirled to see Ashpaw closing in. She abruptly turned and laughed delighted by the chase. She sprang from the ground landing a length away and started running as fast as her paws could carry her. She let out a joyous whoop and yowled, 'ha! You will never catch me!" Her coat a rusty flame against the shimmering undergrowth.

Ashpaw loved this occurrence! After her failing race with Thistleclaw she refused to let Thornpaw go without a fight. Ashpaw‘s eyes darted about wildly and she paid close attention to her stride keeping it long and flowing. She had always loved to run, it exhilarated her; she felt free.
"Oh yes I will!" Ashpaw yowled back competitively.
