The moonlight that projected from an otherwise dark midnight sky fell upon a lone white she-cat who lay in the middle of the open field, head on her paws as she sighed for the fourth time in only a few minutes. Anyone could tell she was a million miles away just by looking at her. She didn't care how vulnerable it made her...she needed to think. She had left her three kits sleeping in the nursery and wandered off to enjoy the starry sky. She had always loved to watch StarClan in all its glory...
Sighing again, she let her thoughts turn to the handsome tom she had chosen to mate. After there three kits were born, he had vanished. She hadn't even seen him around the clan! It was as if he had fallen off the face of the earth; as if he wanted nothing to do with her or their kits. The thought alone pierced her like a sharp thorn. Thorns. The day they had met he had pulled one out of her paw...she still remembered it so clearly. Could he really have left? He was so nice to her.
Closing her blue eyes, she contemplated what would happen if she fell asleep out here in the open under the stars. Realizing she didn't care, she came to terms with how deep her grief was. She had to stay strong...for the kits... Those were the last thoughts that floated through her mind as she fell into a light sleep.

Huge amber orbs gazed with intensity at the she-cat, negleting the freezing gusts that clashed in his handsome, yet opaque navy pelt. The acuteness in which his golden eyes followed the beautiful figure were so keen they twinkled as much as the dazzling moonlight and rapidly matching the star’s gleam. For a heartbeat, they shifted from her glimmer and stared at the stream nearby. Hideous thoughts crammed in his mind, full of abhorrent imagination of what could happen to the tom’s precious relatives, such as Swiftcloud or their kits. Thornshadow marched nearer her, not concerned to hide his fear for her safety. The phosphorescent blazes in his forehead faintly narrowed but couldn’t deceipt the affection he felt for her. The shades in the warrior’s cheeks twisted as his jaw clasped to speak; “Are you alright?” his voice crisped silently and clearly revealing his urge to leave the gawping crowd that always surrounded the Thunderclan camp.

Swiftcloud jumped to her paws, the voice clearly startling her badly. As she turned to face him, her heart and stomach leapfrogged over one-another and she took in a sharp breath. For a while there was silence, the sound of far off crickets the only sound. Her snowy fur stood on end as she went through her scrambled thoughts carefully, sorting out what and what not to say. Finally deciding on a cautious approach, she spoke to him hesitantly and softly.
"Thornshadow? Where have you been?"
Her blue eyes showed her pain, for she didn't bother to try and hide it. She knew he knew that he had hurt her by leaving, and she just couldn't understand what she had done. Their three kits that were ready to leave the nursery...would they finally meet their father after 5 1/2 moons? Or would he leave again after he had just returned.

ooc; He was gone? I was inactive and stuff but he didn't just vanish... Er, this post will be very brief cause I'm really confused...
ic; Thornshadow glared at Swiftcloud awkwardly, his eyes full of astonishment. "I beg your pardon?"

Swiftcloud shook her head, blinking wide blue eyes at him. "I just mean, it feels like I haven't seen you in a very long time." She wondered if he knew that she had had the kits long ago, and if he had seen them yet. She felt the overwhelming urge to just bury her nose in his warm fur, but she held back. She didn't know why...but something prevented her from the warm gesture of comfort.

Thornshadow hauled a long sigh. What could he said? He had been a fool, a moron, a mere dork for abandoning Swiftcloud and her kits so rapidly. "I'm sorry" were the only rasping words that issued from his lean snout, pitiful in the errand of epitomize his true guilt. The obscure warrior embraced Swiftcloud's sleek tail in his own and clunked his muzzle over her flank. It wasn't enough to show how he felt, he knew, but he had a faint hope that perhaps his glinting amber (currently blistered) orbs perceived his sorrow and melancholy to his most precious one.

Swiftcloud meowed, a pure sound tainted with sadness, and took steps forward. Rubbing her head against Thornshadow's neck, she squeezed his tail with hers. The last few weeks of running had gotten rid off all the extra fat she had gained during her pregnancy, and now she was even leaner than usual. If you hadn't known better, you would never have guessed she was a mother.
"The kits..."
she murmured, the rest of the sentence trailing off to only be told to Starclan. She sighed, sitting down in the dirt and showing Thornshadow her eyes, fully open and richly blue.

Thornshadow tilted his head awkwardly, beckoning the stars that glew above them. "The kits..." he echoed in his austere and grave voice which sounded like a obnoxious bellow now that it was quiet. Shades trimmed in the tom's checks and jaw a he sighed. "I'm sorry..." was the grim reply. "I've been a fool..."

"Yes, you have."
Swiftcloud's reply was harsh, but she wasn't about to pretend like what he had done hadn't hurt her. She stared into his eyes, her own trying to show him the danger of his actions on their relationship. She had always complained as a kit that when you found someone you loved, no matter what happened you could forgive them. Adults had been patient with her, and now she understood why. It was love, right? She knew...she thought that Thornshadow loved her, but if you love someone, why would you walk away?
Blinking away the damaging thoughts, she turned her attention back to the situation at hand. Again rubbing her muzzle against his, she was ignorant to the fact that her white fur glowed in the moonlight. She looked just like she had fallen from the stars, or that a chunk of the moon had been used to create her. She had always been beautiful, and it was the reason it had taken her so long to find someone. She needed someone who would loved her for more than beauty. But beauty wasn't on her mind now as she watched Thronshadow's expressions. She could forgive him, but only if he would forgive himself.
