Bearpaw sprang out of the tall grass just as the rabbit saw him. It tried to get away but it was too late. "Want some Rabbit?" Bearpaw asked.

Rabbitpaw's eyes widened in shock as the she-cat took a few steps forward from her spot behind the bush.
"How did you know I was there?"
she asked in amazement. Her ears flicked as they tried to catch many different sounds and focuse on Bearpaw at the same time. Her tan paws blended in with the dirt as she padded up to the apprentice and sat down. She stared at the rabbit he had freshly killed and wondered if she would ever be able to do things like that. She couldn't wait until she got a mentor.

"I don't know...something just told me you were there." Bearpaw announced. The truth was that when he was born StarClan visited Bearpaw and told him that he would be called upon StarClan to save his Clan when the time came...they had given him the power of being able to know exactly where everything was around him, and to have very good hearing, scent, and sight. He had never told anyone of his powers.

Rabbitpaw nodded with a small smile.
"That was pretty amazing,"
she meowed genuinly. She looked up at him, her emerald eyes staring into his.
"Would you want to go hunting with me?"
she asked shyly. She ducked her head, her beautiful facial features hidden by her ears folded down slightly. Her tail swayed in the air, the only sign that she wasn't a statue.

Rabbitpaw picked up her head quickly.
"Really? Cool!" She leaped up on her feet and let her tail twitch.
"Where to?" she asked in a purely young feminine voice. Her paw prints were all over the dirt where she had jumped around, and the tan fur on her paws made it look like her paws were covered in the grainy sand, but anyone who knew her knew better.

Rabbitpaw nodded in agreement.
"Ok!" she meowed excitedly, not knowing through her excitement that Bearpaw was staring at her. Her mother had been beautiful, and she took after her, but no one had ever told her that. She remained oblivious.
She scented the air, and was ecstatic to smell a mouse nearby. She padded forward slowly in a crouching position and was careful to make no noise. After only a few seconds, she unloaded the spring pressure on her haunches and flew through the air to land on the mouse. A dead hit. She clamped her jaws into its neck and let it go only when she was sure it was now a meal. She jumped up happily.
"I did it!" she cried out. She knew it didn't have anything to do with skill: it was pure instinct.

Bearpaw felt very proud for Rabbitpaw
"That was a really good catch!"
said Bearpaw.
"Do you want to try hunting up on the top of the moor where we can see all around?"
Bearpaw knew that Rabbitpaw was as beautiful as her mother, who had helped Bearpaw when his mother died.

Rabbitpaw giggled, a sound that was music to Bearpaw's ears.
"Sounds like fun!" she meowed happily. She turned toward their destination and ran faster than normal cats, giving her her namesake. She reached the top and was stunned at the wonderful view of the sunset.
"It's so beautiful," she breathed out quietly as she sat on top of the hill, her green eyes facing the sunset.
