"Nightstorm can we train here?" Dovepaw asked.

"Yes," Nightstorm smiled down toward his apprentice's eagerness. "Now always remember to keep low. Be swift but silent. A friend once told me that it matters not what will come in the end, but what is happening. Don't worry about if you catch your prey, but how you do it." He tried to show his apprentice his best way for catching birds, and he could only hope that he was doing a good job.

Dovepaw smiled brightly. She had seen a big, fat pidgeon. She crept stealthily, keeping low, as her metor had said, and leaptat the bird. It was no mach for Dovepaw, it's neck soon bitten with a swift blow. "Am I doing OK?" Dovepaw asked as she trotted to Nightstorm's side.

"Excellent. Good catch!" Nightstorm praised enthusiastically. She's really catching on, he thought. "Mice can feel you before they see you, so when catching a mouse, be low and smooth. Watch were your paws go and what they step on so that you don't set them off."

"OK Nightstorm, I'll try my best!" Dovepaw by coincidence, had just spotted a mouse. It was rare in the forest to have brown mice; they were usually grey. Dovepaw dropped into a hunter's crouch again, and, being careful not to step on twigs and leaves, pounced on the mouse. She dispatched it, but had to refuse her growling belly.

"Good. I can see that you're getting hungry, but as an apprentice, you must always see that the elders are fed before you can have your share," Nightstorm lectured. He was getting hungry too and Dovepaw's belly was growling. "Let's hunt a bit more and then we'll go back. Now, show me that bird hunt again," he said pointing with his nose toward a tree.

Ok, elders first. Dovepaw spotted the chaffinch that Nightstorm had said.

"Yes, Dovepaw, we are training. I will be teaching to something special today." Nightstorm led the way to the edge of the WindClan borders along the streams. "Today, I will teach you to fish. Not many cats can fish, but I have," he paused. He couldn't say that Palefoot had taught him how on their first encounter,"figured things out. This is a RiverClan cat's specialty, but maybe we can bring a few fish in every now and then."

Dovepaw stood, amazed at the WindClan warrior. "Wow, how do you do it?"

"It's not very hard, just look for movement other than the steam itself," Nightstorm instucted. He saw a large blur in the water. "Watch me carefully. Keep your voice soft, and keep your shadow out of the water. Raise your paw and-" he raised his paw at the blur, "swipe!" He struck the water and pulled the fish out of the water. It landed with a thud and flopped around crazily. "Make sure it doesn't fall back in! Now, you try."

Dovepaw was a little nervous when she saw the blurry shape in the water. She raised a paw, and by sudden reflexes, her claws slashed out and stuck them into it's neck. The fish was not squirming, it was still, dead, unlike Nightstorm's energetic fish by the side of hers! OOC: lol xd

OCC: Ew! XD This'll be gross too!
Nightstorm cringed at the dead fish. Its flesh was falling off our its skeleton and was decaying. It let off such a terrible stench that it turned the older warrior's stomach. He didn't want to upset the young cat, so he tried his best to encourage her and teach her.
"That is what happens to some fish. Twolegs catch them and throw them back, dying. It is worse than eating crowfood; it is poison to a cat. Don't touch it!" Nightstorm shouted. He wasn't trying to be mean, but he wanted to protect his apprentice. "Please, try again while I get rid of this crowfood."

"Oh no!!!" Dovepaw squealed. She saw another fish carcass-and another! The river was full of them, until she spotted aliving one, which she caught with ease.
