Moondance trotted to a good area, her ears pricked forwards for noise, and she felt into the earth. It was an almost empty enclosure, with some brambles and crooked trees. It seemed a good place, so Moondance staked it as her's and Hawkpaw's. "This is a good place." she decided aloud, waiting for a reply from Hawkpaw.

Hawkpaw, the beauteous apprentice, eagerly followed her mentor. It was her first day of training and she couldn't be more excited. Despite her abashed personality, however, the besprinkled she-cat marched with bliss and delight. Her extensive tail diverted in rhythm with her legs. The cougar's exultant debouch brought her to a fissure with only a shafted thicket in it. Converging the bramble was the hyaline frame of a feline. "Moondance!" Hawkpaw screamed and rushed to greet her mentor. "I'm ready!"

"Good." Moondance beamed. Her first apprentice, even if she was blind! She wouldn't get over THAT soon. "So what do you think we should do first..." she asked her apprentice. "Battle training, partols," then her tongue listed her favorite one, "Hunting." She adored to hunt, it was the one thing she was extremely good at.

Hawkpaw momentarily gaped at her mentor. "You're letting me... decide?" Of the other 50 mentors the she-cat have had, all had been so ruthless and obdurate she would have never thought somebody in Windclan would be so... benevolent. Maybe she's just playing with me... Like everybody else has... was Hawkpaw's sequitur. "Moondance, please proceed on the lesson..." she retaliated sedately.

Moondance looked awkwardly towards where her apprentice was standing. "Of course you can decide!" she gasped, taken aback. She spit air through her teeth. "Pttff. Why do you ask that." then she added, "Just choose one." her voice remained calm and contained.

Hawkpaw took a deep breath. "Well, I would like to start with... fighting." she finally said, her paws trembling in fear, excitement, and astonishment.

Moondance nodded and stood up straight, flexing her claws. "Now. Let us work on stance." she said, her eyes shining. Moondance stood up and bent her legs and arched her back. "Your feet must remain solid, take the blows into your legs." She braced herself for attacks, snowing Hawkpaw.

"Remain solid. Got it." Hawkpaw repeated, portraying what Moondance did. Her legs erroneously cringed and vaguely managed to retain a hefty bearing. Her ochroid eyes scrutinized her mentor's carriage, giving the apprentice an example of how to do it right. Her legs vellicated as she fluctuated her poisture. Moments later, it was a perfect mirror of Moondance. "Am I doint it right?" Hawkpaw asked, proud of her improvement.

"I think so." Moondance couldn't see, so she pushed pressure against the rock solid apprentice. She didn't budge. "Yes. Nice job. Now onto attacking. Claws sheathed, try to battle me. I'll be easy now." She smiled, looking at the apprentice she couldn't see.

Hawkpaw blinked in bewilderement. "When you say claws sheated, you mean I have to summon them?" she ask, her pelt blistering in shame. She always considered herself as somebody smart, despite her hideous reputation, and accepting the fact that she didn't know something obvious felt humilliating, and that feeling increased when she was with somebody as eminent as Moondance.

"That means you don't expose your claws. Keep them sheathed within your fur, the crevices within your paws." She looked down towards the cat. "Come and get me." She teased, jumpeing playfully back and forth.

Hawkpaw took a deep breath and nodded. Her claws were... sheathed, just like Moondance had told her too. Her stance was steady. The apprentice shoddily whisked and prepared to attack her mentor. Her back legs were reared upwards, in contrast with her front legs, which were groveled. Her eyes were aiming at her tail. Or at least they seemed to be. They were really directed at her heart. Her hind legs gathered strenght and attack. Hawkpaw pretended to leap over her cherished mentor's tail but instead, headed for her chest. Her body was reliable as she tackled Moondance in the place she had planned to.

Moondance could not see, and she knew by the twitching of her muscles and tail that the apprentice was trying to fool her. Did she know that Moondance was blind? As the apprentice landed on the left side of her chest, Moondance whipped around, her sheathed paws cuffing the back of Hawkpaw's head.
