Fishing for Trouble

Sparklestorm sat by the edge of the river, her back arched and her head close to the water, watching the shiny silver fish dart quickly through the clear water. Her paw itched, twitching to dart forward and hook one of the delicious entrees onto her paw, but she kept it still as she waited for the perfect opportunity. She had left Ambercloud in the warrior's den, sleeping soundly. Not many of her fellow clanmates were up and about so early.

One of the fish slowed down gradually, looking quite unsure of itself. Sparklestorm took her chance and let her paw shoot out from under her, grasping the wriggling fish and throwing it ashore, watching it flop around madly for a few moments before it stopped, the new waterless environment making it die quickly. She sighed, her mouth watering as she reminded herself that she must feed the clan first. Even as she turned back to the river, she was happy of her new warrior position. Her back arched and her ocean blue gaze once again watched the fish, daring them to slow down just enough to add another to her pile.

Darkpaw watched a she-cat from a distance, watching how she fished. He wasn't trained much, so he decided to learn himself. He was already close to doing everything, but fishing was left. I need to be a warrior... He was hidden in a bush the whole time but the land slid under his feet and he crashed into the open water.

Sparklestorm jumped in surprise, her intense concentration broken as a cat flew out of nowhere to land in the water. She watched him for a while, trying to see if he would be ok without her help. She recognized Darkpaw, a RiverClan apprentice, and sat back on her haunches with a smile. Her tail made its way to wrap around her paws, and she called out teasingly,

"Fishing is easier if you wait for the fish to come to you."
Her eyes sparkled happily, letting Darkpaw know she was just teasing. A drop of water that had landed on her paw was quickly licked off as she watched him swimming toward the shore.

Stormbrook lept on a branch. She had nearly fallen but regained her balance. There was a rabbit below her. She was near the river so decided to sneak up on it there. It was bouncing around like a maniac. It finally reached close enough for her to get it. She lept down and landed on it.

Darkpaw got to shore and gasped. "Meany." He said in a teasing retort.
