Sparklepaw walked into the apprentice's den for the first time. She opened her mouth in awe. "The next step to being a warrior," she whispered to herself. She crept into a corner and laid down, waiting for her friends to join her so they share their excitement and expectations.

"Sure!" Dewpaw meowed contently as she heard what Sparklepaw said, she bounded over to her and gave a little excited leap. "And my mentor is one of the best Riverclan warriors!" She meowed proudly with her head high.

Sparklepaw's ears perked up. "Really? Who? I got Rosethorn as my mentor, I'm her first apprentice!" she meowed excitedly. "Tomorrow we're patrolling borders."

"Silvertip!" Dewpaw squealed cheerfully. "And what are we doing here anyway?" She meowed mischievously, "Why don't we two go on a small patrol ourselves? How about Shadowclan border?"

Darkpaw entered the den. "I don't think so," he said like a skilled warrior. "You're not going anywhere-" Darkpaw lost his seriuos face and let a mrrow of laughter escape. "Without me!"

Dewpaw gave Darkpaw an annoyed look and broke into laughter, "Sure!" She meowed cheerfully, "Then it is Sparklepaw, you and me!" She meowed directing her tail to each cat she named. "But no meowing about this if we can ok?" Dewpaw meowed mischievously, thinking it would be her first adventure like an apprentice.

Sparklepaw looked hesitant. She didn't want to break any rules on her first day, but she also didn't want to disappoint her friends. She turned her eyes away to look at the wall. "Ok," she meowed nervously.

"Why so unsure Sparklepaw?" Dewpaw meowed half laughing, "I bet it is fun! And we may even get to spy on the other clans." She thought innocently.
