Eh, I had to do a report on it, so why not...
Illegal Immigration[/u]
Many of us could write about global warming or abortion. Some could talk about the effects of animal abuse or about how the War in Iraq is taking a turn for the worse. Yes, these are all serious issues, but another is illegal immigration. The country looks upon immigration as a good thing, but many fail to see what the illegal immigrants are doing to us. For years, Mexicans and others have crossed the border into the country illegally, claiming land for themselves with benefits even a real American citizen does not get. This is not fair to the legal people living here and the government needs to take action against this. Even though the country was founded by immigrants who traveled to live here from their original lands, it does not mean everyone is free to come as they wish and claim the place as their own without citizenship. Illegal immigration should be stopped to prevent another economic depression, to keep the United States a true American country, and to stop terrorist organizations from invading using the Mexican and United States border.
When you watch the evening news or CNN (Cable News Network) there seems to always be a story about how the country will go into a depression soon because of the war and anything else we can put the blame on. This is made worse when stories about our border with Mexico or an illegal immigrant in the country who does not obey the laws are added. It is a fact that illegal Hispanic immigrants alone send more than $16 billion in United States money back to Mexico each year. When people hear news articles like this, they can link the two easily. “The Mexican government has a policy to help its people into the United States,” Sean Hannity states on a radio talk show August 22, 2006. He later goes on to say that they have this policy “because here they get educated, they get medical attention, and they get all of the social welfare benefits.” Though it is hard to believe, some true Americans do not even get all three of those. The immigrants are just using more of our money which we could use to help the legal families. And their jobs here are not the only thing. Many Americans wanted to build a fence across the border, traveling 70 miles. Now it has gone up to a 350 mile fence. All of this just to keep many illegal immigrants out of the country. The price will just put us further in debt, but you know it is bad when you will spend any amount of money just to try to control the number of illegals crossing the border each year.
By 2006, the number of illegal immigrants in the country had tripled since 2003. So, in three years, the United States went from 50,000 illegal immigrants to 155,000 illegal immigrants. Sure, this is not exactly triple, but it is well over. “By 2050,” Hannity also says during the talk show, “there will be 102 million Hispanics in the country, primarily descending from the Mexican heritage.” And can you believe that 58 percent of Mexicans think the Southwestern region of our country belongs to them? We fought them for it. Then, only 3,000 Mexicans were in the country during the war. Now, there are 4,000 in California alone! There really is no problem with this, but these are only the illegal immigrants. These are the people who take our jobs, get our welfare plans, pay no taxes, and leave us with nothing. People came here in the beginning with a dream of a country unlike their own from which they were trying to escape from. Those immigrants helped build what we know as our nation today. Those people weren’t looking for someone else to support. They worked to build a new place they could call their home. The immigrants coming today are treated far too well. If you think about it, we are being taken over by immigrants who want to make our country more like their original home. They want us to speak their language, fly their flags, convert to their cultures and styles, etc. Where did the so called American heritage of this country go?
It seems as if the illegal immigrants want us to turn into a copy of their countries. If they think they can, then others are sure to think so as well. For example, let’s take the many terrorist organizations from across the seas. The Mexicans are making it seem so easy to break into the country, and though it is not something people would admit, it is. Why else would we be in such a state? Since the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, the United States has been experiencing its most vulnerable time, and every day we lose more and more men and women at war with Iraq. “Are there Hezbollah cells in America?” Hannity reports on the air. “Yes. Are there Al Qaeda cells in America? Yes. How did they get here?” And believe it or not, the answer is quite simple; through the border. There has even been talk about invading through the Mexican and United States border. Why can’t we fix this and end our so called “vulnerability”? It would stop the illegals and a possible attack. That is killing two birds with one stone. But will we ever act upon it? No, we won’t. Otherwise we wouldn’t have so much illegal activity in the country right now and we would remain the American land we once were.
So, many of us could write about global warming or abortion. Some could talk about the effects of animal abuse or about how the War in Iraq is taking a turn for the worse. Yes, these are all serious issues, but another is illegal immigration. From all around the world people are trying to get into our country illegally, hoping they will come to a better place. Well, that better place does not exist anymore because they themselves have cut it down to nothing but illegal persons who are using real citizens’ money to make themselves another Mexico, another Iraq, and so on. It’s depressing to see people breaking the laws and performing a prison break into our land, getting welfare, homes, and the money we should get. We work for it (legally), so it is rightly ours. This is our country, not theirs, and we should be the ones who are covered by the government, not all of the illegal citizens. If the illegal immigrants enter the country through the legal process we would be proud to have them as citizens, but they are not. Illegal immigration should be stopped to prevent another economic depression, to keep the United States a true American country, and to stop terrorist organizations from invading using the Mexican and United States border.
