Palefoot uneasily approached the Moonpool. Leafstar? I don't think that I can do this. I'm not ready, I still need you, she thought. She stared idly into the celestial mirrior pool. The stars shone bright underneath the glowing creascent moon.

She looked into the waters. She saw her dark reflection. A thought crashed into her mind. What if I'm not meant to be the true leader of RiverClan? Leafstar had named her her successor, but what if that was a mistake? She had betrayed RiverClan many moons ago, had StarClan forgiven her so easily? Something wasn't right. ShadowClan had just suffered from a rouge attack, and what if RiverClan was next to be hit with a disaster? She didn't think anymore. She laid down and lapped a few drops of water from the Moonpool. She drifted into a sleep that the leaders before her had undergone.

Palefoot awoke from her visit with StarClan. Wait, now I am Palestar. The new leader of RiverClan, she thought to herself. StarClan had given her her lives, with all of the cats she'd ever known. Leafstar, her mother, and the other cats who had passed on. Palestar had heard many warnings but only one brought her mind back to it.

Sparklepaw padded as softly as was possible. She saw the body of her leader and sighed with relief. She was almost afraid to talk...she was just a lowly apprentice...but she opened her mouth anyway. "They're worried about you. They were going to send someone out to come find you, but they decided against it. I came anyways." Her voice was barely above a whisper. She was shaking with the fear of facing her leader's wrath at being followed.

Sparklepaw stepped forward to rub her fur against Palestar's, comforting her. "Lets get back," she meowed, letting Palestar lean against her in exhaustion.
