Darkwing had been waiting in the gorse entrance of the WindClan camp, his green eyes searching the west moors for any signs of Hawkpaw and Breezepaw. All that he had sent to them was an apology. How long could it take them? Hawkpaw had learned how to hunt, but fighting was his weak spot.

Hawkpaw emerged from the dense undergrowth to see Darkwing waiting for him. He cringed, praying to Starclan he wasn’t angry. Nonetheless he trotted confidently up to his mentor and reported the events. “I’m sure you will be happy to hear, the apologies went extremely well, and Silvertip sends her apologies as well.” He tried to remain emotionless, but a hidden smile twitched on the edge of his mouth.

Darkwing flicked his ears dissmissively, just barely catching the genuine smile on Hawkpaw's face. He sighed. Skyheart was Silvertip's beloved mate, and one of Darkwing's Gathering friends. He was bold and certainly brave; it made sense why Skyheart would come back and try to mend Silvertip's damaged heart. My friend, WindClan has enough to burden with. Please don't put my apprentice through anything. If Skyheart had heard him, he ignored him.
Turning back to Hawkpaw with a stern look, Darkwing sat upright. "You're far behind your battle training, young one. We should begin now." Crouching low, Darkwing snarled. "Attack me!"

Hawkpaw was taken aback by his mentor’s request, but that was quickly dismissed. He lunged at his mentor with hawk-like speed, a smile on his face.

Darkwing grunted, crouching low. Hawkpaw was going for his massive shoulders, and would be easily mistaken for his ill move. As he landed, Darkwing twisted over until he was on top of Hawkpaw. "Your eyes can betray your fate in battle," he growled, finishing his move by kicking Hawkpaw in the shoulder, a move that would send him flying back. "Now, try again."

Hawkpaw landed in a heap, but was up quickly in a rebound his eyes burning angrily. His face was blank and expressionless, all but the fire burning in his eyes. He raced towards Darkwing , and lunged. Searching for the one weak point in his mentor’s stance.
Ooc: haha good thing Darkwing is mentoring him, he is probably the only one who could handle his fire!

Darkwing narrowed his eyes. Hawkpaw hadn't analyzed the situation properly, and was attacking out of anger that he hadn't beaten his mentor. Hissing to make it more realistic, Darkwing turned so his sides were facing Hawkpaw, and, as he almost made contact, the deputy jumped into the air, landing on time with Hawkpaw's landing to the ground. It was sure to knock the wind out of him. A small rasp of laughter escaped him. "If you had gotten the best of me, I wouldn't have to teach you! I know you have more potential than this. Do something I won't expect next time!"

Hawkpaw smiled, and nodded in understanding. He had let his anger get the better of him. His stood, quickly heaving a few breaths before returning his mentors gaze. Something he wont expect… His mind calculated his options. Out of nowhere he sprang for his mentor, head on. At the last second he paused and diverted his course to his left, his shoulder, open. He collided, and spun aiming a precise blow for the back of his head. Refusing to back down.

Darkwing had reasonably felt the force of Hawkpaw's cleverness, but soon enough ducked his head so he wouldn't go flying. Although slightly dazed, Darkwing staggered back to feet and launched his massive body onto Hawkpaw's flank, twisting him around when his belly was exposed. "Don't gloat! You must be ready for a counter attack." Darkwing immediatley began to circle his apprentice.

Hawkpaw rounded, his paws shaking. He was captivated by his mentors raw strength, and cunning in battle. His strength was slowly weakening, but he tried not to show it. He watched his mentor circle him, his eyes flashed a deep amber. He through himself at Darkwing, he spun accurately around and aimed an unyielding blow for the head, then dancing to the side, returning it with a firm swipe to the side. He landed, and whirled, ready for the upcoming counter attack.

Darkwing skidded back a fox-length from the quickness of Hawkpaw's blow. He grunted a compliment, continuing to circle in a stalking position. "Surprise is a great tool," he reminded him, appearing to be settling down as if he was calling off the training. "But knowing when to use it will turn the whole battle a different direction." Darkwing's fur bristled continuously as he was able to perform a perfect launching attack at his apprentice in only a matter of a couple of seconds, landing over him.

Breezepaw sped through the open moorland, her long ginger legs perfect for running, she noticed the battle going on between Hawkpaw and the deputy, she was about to leap into action when she reminded herself that Darkwing was Hawkpaw's mentor. She gasped for air and settled herself, a little ashamed of what she would have done if she hadn't remembered. "Sorry of my delay" She mewed to Darkwing.
((hope u don't mind that I joined))

Darkwing was about to open his mouth to explain a more simpler move, when his head riveted to Breezepaw. Snorting, the deputy got off Hawkpaw, signaling him to know that he was to stop fighting. "In time, I would have been worried. You know the moors well enough." Now, a thought rumbled. "How did it go?"

Hawkpaw shot upward exhilarated, landing on quick paws. Little by little he was feeling more comfortable with his mentor, Darkwing. Though he may not show it. He turned to spotted Breezepaw and smiled brightly. “Hey Breezepaw!” He meowed merrily.

Seeing that Breezepaw wasn't going to answer right away, the dark deputy continued. "Where were we? Oh yes, surprise." Darkwing's fur lay smooth and calm, but in a blinking moment, the huge tom launched at Hawkpaw, beginning the lesson of inbalance. "At the most, keep your paws light on the ground if you're planning to avoid me, and dug into the ground if you can take them" Darkwing did a more conspicuous move, seeing what Hawkpaw would do.
